Job Description

The Director of Business Development’s role is to oversee the entire sales function within Schechter. The successful candidate will foster a dynamic team and assuming accountability for the results of the entire advisor team. This is a non-producing role, but the successful candidate will have produced in previous roles. This position is remote with travel to the Birmingham, MI area from time to time meet and develop Advisor team.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides leadership and oversees all aspects of a dynamic team of Advisors to increase revenue and expand profitability.
• Effectively applies service/business knowledge to advisor recruiting efforts; able to “translate” competitor offerings into Schechter services and understand and explain how an advisor will be able to meet their clients’ needs.
• Continuously work to seek opportunities to drive revenue
• Works with Schechter marketing team to drive initiatives to help increase market share with High-Net-Worth households.
• Improves the effectiveness of the advisor team by constantly communicating relevant information on a timely basis and conducting regular sales meetings.

Knowledge, Skills, & Ability

• 8 or more years of related business development production experience including demonstrated success managing a successful wealth management function (investments OR insurance)
• Proven understanding of the financial services arena
• Maintains ethical business practices
• Previous experience leading/coaching/mentoring a team of Advisors.
• Possesses a strong understanding of Schechter’s resources; able to direct advisors to the right resources in an efficient manner as to make the business development process more efficient
• Effectively applies service/business knowledge to advisor recruiting efforts; able to “translate” competitor offerings into Schechter services and understand and explain how an advisor will be able to meet their clients’ needs.
• Active Series 7, 8 (or 9 and 10), 66 (or 63 and 65), and 3 registrations
• Ability to attract and retain top talent
• Attention to detail along with strong math, organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
