Senior Accountant

Job Description

The Senior Accountant is an integral part of Schechter’s accounting team with responsibilities for accounting, fund administration, insurance, and other functions as determined by the Controller in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Accounting. We are searching for a dynamic and experienced professional that is willing to work hard and grow with our firm. Key to the position is a track record of commitment to the business with an emphasis on constant improvement, discipline, attention to detail, and teamwork. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Key player in the monthly closing process, including account reconciliations, reporting, and analysis
  • Supervise and support external fund administrator (books, expense reconciliations, distributions) for private capital business
  • Manage intercompany transactions and reporting for several related entities•Coordinate with outside firms for tax compliance and annual audit
  • Act as backup to the Controller processing bi-weekly, multi-state Payroll
  • Drive accounting process creation, improvement, and documentation
  • Assist with annual budget preparation, monthly forecasting, and cash flow projections
  • Implement technology changes with accounting function
  • Serve as back-up to other teammates within the group
  • Liaise with other areas of the organization, including investment, insurance and private capital teams
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and information requests

Experience / Required Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in accounting function
  • Minimum of 3 years processing multi-state
  • Payroll Experience working with multiple entities and intercompany transactions
  • Sage Intacct experience a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or MBA designation a plus
  • Financial Services industry background preferred (Wealth Management and/or Insurance)
  • Highly analytical, structured thinker
  • Attention to detail and well-organized
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
