Joseph Opiela is a Wealth Advisor and Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Schechter. He specializes in analyzing complex investment, insurance, and wealth transfer strategies for individuals, families, and businesses. Joe educates clients and their advisors on the economics and risks associated with various types of investments and insurance products.

Joe joined Schechter in 2013 as an Investment Analyst, immediately impacting the firm’s analytical and case design capabilities. He is responsible for overseeing Schechter’s Design & Implementation Team, which is actively focused on structuring, implementing, and servicing life, disability, and long-term care insurance portfolios. Prior to joining Schechter, Joe worked as an Analyst at Vanguard in Malvern, PA.

Joe is a graduate of Michigan State University with a BA in Finance. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charterholder and is an active member of the CFA Society of Detroit. He also holds his FINRA Series 65 securities license.

He lives in Royal Oak, MI with his wife, Lauren – and you can find him staying active outdoors, mountain biking, running, and trying to stay below a double-digit handicap in golf.
